App Concept: Hoshii
Figma, Adobe Illustrator
As a collector of many things, I often struggle to manage my spending and keep track of everything I collect. Too many times have I come home from an outing with a new item for my shelf, only to discover that I already have something just like it. Sometimes my determination to complete a collection has resulted in extreme overspending. One of the most helpful things when it comes to combatting these issues is awareness and mindfulness. This is what Hoshii specializes in. Hoshii takes collection tracking to a new level, with features catered towards serious collectors. Additionally, Hoshii focuses not just on inventory and organization, but encouraging mindful spending as well.
Branding
The app mascot, Hoshi (星), means star in Japanese, whereas Hoshii (欲しい) is “to want.” The star represents a wish, as we create wishlists for our collections. The bright color palette, as well as the cute and cheerful branding aims to market the app to those partaking in the new wave of trinket collecting. As stores such as POP MART and collectibles like Sonny Angels rise in popularity, Hoshii is the perfect companion for this new generation of collectors. The bright blue and yellow color palette mimics a starry sky, and contributes to the cute, fun, and energetic feel of the brand and UI.
