About Me

Background

My name is Avery Kiyomi. I am 22 years old and I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. I moved to Washington State alongside my parents and two siblings in 2013, and we’ve been living in the Greater Seattle Area ever since. After graduating high school in 2022, I completed my Associates in Arts degree at Edmonds College. I then received my Bachelor’s degree in Design at Seattle University in June of 2026.

Designing Stylish(ly)

I believe effective design embodies style. Many people can recognize and appreciate good style. Most are naturally attracted to it. What they describe is a natural “energy,” “aura,” or “vibe” they can’t help but feel drawn towards. But this effect doesn’t occur by accident. It’s carefully crafted by those with a deep understanding of visual language. Visuality and style is a way of communicating. Presentation is a window into how someone thinks. It tells a story about one’s personality, values, and habits.

As a designer, style is always in the back of my mind. It’s something I constantly observe and incorporate in my work and my daily life. I strive to both understand the elements of style and utilize them to build an authentic representation of its message. Every person and every brand has something to say. I believe an effective message is not only spoken, but lived. My own message of creating stylish designs is something I strive to live every day. “Look stylish, live stylish, design stylish” is my commitment to embodying good style, and therefore, good design.
